West Java, a province with great potential in terms of natural resources, economy, human resources, arts, culture and tourism. The west side of the island of Java has a mountain range that stretches from west to east including an active volcano in it.

It is because of the many mountains that this province has soil that tends to be fertile. Not only that, the arts and culture of West Java also thrive in the midst of its people.

Culture is born from local customs and customs. The existence of certain community groups within the social scope of the province headed by Ahmad Heryawan is able to create cultural arts that affect not only the people of West Java but also all Indonesian society.

Call it angklung, a typical West Java musical instrument that can be played in a unique way, shaken. This ancestral heritage musical instrument from the land of Pasundan was once claimed as a collection of art from neighboring countries. Luckily, at the end of 2007, the angklung patent along with several other Indonesian arts were successfully realized.

A number of ancient arts that have long been forgotten have also begun to reappear. Angklung badud originating from Tasikmalaya is registered as a rare and endangered cultural art that will be revived by the West Java Regional Government.

In Karawang Regency, the West Java government invites students to play the gamelan ajeng which is usually played by elderly artists.

Likewise with other rare arts, such as Gondang Buhun, the ritual of percussion, typical of Ciamis and in the rural communities of Bogor in the past. Also the art of masks from Cirebon. This is a way of regenerating the arts of West Java which is an asset of the Indonesian nation in general.

Another distinctive feature of the arts and culture of the region, which has a population of around 39 million people, is Parebut Seeng. If you have ever attended a wedding with Betawi customs, you must have witnessed a scene where the groom and the bride are fighting over each other.

One part of this Betawi wedding ritual represents the story of the love journey of the bride and groom. If the martial arts master from the male side does not succeed in maintaining the seeng, then it could be a sign that the second household will not last.

Therefore, the martial arts masters of each party must prepare in total the martial arts they learn. Parebut Seeng is a martial art that is played to the accompaniment of drum music.

Well, the young generation, it's time to preserve the nation's culture, especially the art of West Java so that we don't miss out again like what happened to angklung in the past.
